up from the sea
A hundred years ago you might have heard the steady, rhythmic sound of a peg-legged whaler clopping his way on the cobblestones up from the sea. The sea is still there, flat and blue on a spring day, but whales are rare and the men who once hunted them are all gone. Time has passed and a robot is walking on the sidewalk.
