summer reading

I've been enjoying this new book

NO TRAVELER RETURNS: 

THE LOST YEARS OF BELA LUGOSI

written by historians Rhodes and Kaffenberger.

My favorite scenes are Bela driving with his 

family in their sedan across America, stopping 

at little towns, recognized in parking lots and 

restaurants. Also the great tales of his summer 

stock plays. It's a very inspiring read and may 

soon result in a short story.

summer reading

I'm about halfway into this recent book

KURT VONNEGUT LETTERS. 

An excellent read. I remember 

a long time ago, holding onto 

my blue paperback copy of 

God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater

on a little propeller plane flight

from Boston to Maine. We were 

bouncing all around in turbulence

(I think it was it Salt Shaker Airlines?)

and I felt that book was only thing 

keeping us alive.

which explains Mount Baker

and other stories from around here.

This week we spent the night on

Lummi Island. If you've read my
