Today I submitted a poem to

The New Yorker and it took

6 minutes for them to reject it.

Lord Buckley puppet

I made this puppet of Lord Buckley 

for my job’s annual staff development day. 

Coming at the end of a 9 hour long 

marathon, the atmosphere heavy with 

the blowing of hot air,  his Royal Hipness 

suddenly appeared and performed 

‘Satellite Blip Flip.’

 As the Patchen letters book 

is getting around, some people 

seem surprised that so many 

asking-for-money letters are included. 

Larry Smith who wrote the foreword 

to the book explains it best, 

“As to the relentless asking for 

funds, to me it's like a Buddhist monk 

begging for rice...honoring the 

giving and the making.”
