As the Patchen letters book
is getting around, some people
seem
surprised that so many
asking-for-money letters are included.
Larry Smith who
wrote the foreword
to the book explains it best,
“As to the relentless asking
for
funds, to me it's like a Buddhist monk
begging for rice...honoring the
giving and the making.”
