Today is the official publication date for my newest novel, THE TRILLIUM WITCH. (You can order from me, or secretly from Amazon) I chose this day to honor one of my favorite Brautigan books, June 30, June 30 published last century in 1978.

With only 4 days until THE TRILLIUM WITCH novel is officially published and born into the world, I found this online: "Trillium is also called Birthroot. It is used in certain circumstances in the process of labor and birth by midwives. In Native American herbalism, Trillium root is considered to be a sacred female herb and they only spoke of it to their medicine women. Trillium is also related to the first three chakras—cleansing them of fear, and opening the way to full grounding."

TIN CAN SLEEP INTERRUPTION

This morning is garbage day. Deep in the night, on the highway past our backyard, machines are banging away at I-5, opening a way for salmon to swim under the highway. The wind always blows on garbage day. At 4 AM, we had to close the window. A tin can kept rattling back and forth beside the curb. If anyone would appreciate that sound, it would be John Cage. He would be lying down in the grass, making a field recording, capturing it on a spool of tape labeled “Tin Can Sleep Interruption.”

I am having so much fun writing this tribute to Encyclopedia Brown. More about him later. So far we're 5 chapters in. Jeeze, those old Scholastic covers were nice!

What's next with Good Deed Rain? Well, there's the cosmonaut novel that aims to be published by end of summer. That was a fun one to write. And I just started writing a new novel--12 pages in--that was inspired by Encyclopedia Brown of all things! So stay tuned, more thrilling reading for you on the way.
