penny magic

Another kizmet event. My 2023 novel One Drop In The Milky Way featured an Abe Lincoln impersonator on the run, living in the Alumni House. Just read a campus report: "At 12:01 p.m. this afternoon, University Police were dispatched to WWU Alumni House after an alarm in the building was activated. Upon arriving at the building, a male suspect was located inside, taken into custody, and charged with burglary in the 2nd degree, a felony." Question: Did he look like the guy on the penny??

drive-in magic

I'm doing revisions on my 71st book and part of it takes place at the old Drive-In theater in town. That was one of the town treasures and draws for living here. It's long gone now, WWU turned it into a parking lot. BUT in my book's world, I revived it! Authors have the magic ability to do that. And now look what just happened:

James Dean sighting

Director Nicholas Ray remembers going to Jacques Tati’s ‘Jour det Fete’ with James Dean: “Unshaven and hair tousled, wrapped in a black raincoat with glasses perched on the very tip of his nose, he looked morose as he entered the cinema. After ten minutes, he was laughing so hard that the spectators next to him complained. He ignored them: there was nothing else to do, the urge to laugh and the euphoria becoming increasingly irresistible. He had to leave before the film was over, leaping over ashtrays in the side aisle like hedges. Outside in the street, he stopped at a bakery. On the sidewalk, éclair in hand, he took on the appearance of Tati's postman, perfectly recreating his elongated stride, slightly Groucho-like---his questioning face with lottery ball eyes.”
