Revenge of Tacoma

Richard Brautigan was born yesterday in Tacoma. I've been rereading the wonderful Revenge of the Lawn: "I was about twelve years old up in the Pacific Northwest where winter meant that it was always raining and muddy."

Harold

The library came through with getting me a copy of Steven Wright's new book Harold

"Frankensteeeen."

Letter to the Dream Department

The lighting in my dreams is really dark—are bills not being paid? Is there a utility strike going on? Also, while we’re at it…the script writing…do I really need to be awakened at 5AM by a dream of a reckless kid driving a 4-wheeler back and forth on our street? And furthermore, why do we have a 4-wheeler in the prop department? Why not sell that thing and get some lightbulbs! I await tonight’s sleep and hope it is peaceful.

Martian Code

This summer, I found an old paperback copy of Danny Dunn and the Weather Machine and this strange code was written on the inside cover: CIA 029-K48. What could it mean? Answering that mystery inspired the latest Good Deed Rain novel: A melting wax museum, a Martian temp agency, Betty Grable, Postum, telepathy, mirage, a giant robot wandering around town, wolves at the zoo, the sound of rain. The book is due to be published next month, stay tuned!

another novel on the way

I’m currently writing a novel sort of based on when The Beatles came to Seattle in 1964.

Presenting a page-spread preview of Chapter 45 from the new Martian novel. This is when Anthrab has teleported to America from Mars. (There's a sentence I never thought I'd write).

Martian Library

Checked out this book at the library. I love the spooky old drawings of Mars, when people could only peer at the stars through a brass telescope.
