Mummy News

We were watching a TV episode of Hart to Hart from 1981 called “Murder Wrap” and I discovered it’s a spoof of my 1970s detective novel JONES JR. What an honor!

2024 Good Deed Rain

A scene from the latest novel, FLOP. This is my real-life art exhibition that lasted for two minutes last summer. Good Deed Rain published 4 novels during 2024: HOLOGRAMS FROM MARS, THE BELATEDS, JONES JR., FLOP. They’re great! Put on your reading glasses and find out! So far I have 2 more novels ready for 2025 so stay tuned!

2024 #1

HOLOGRAMS FROM MARS. A melting wax museum. An unsuccessful Martian. Postum product placement. A robot landmark. Joan Crawford and Don Knotts. A wolf at the zoo. A windup mouse on the cement. The multiple dimensions of reincarnation. Searchlights on Jupiter Hill.

2024 #2

THE BELATEDS. When I worked at a comic book warehouse, Michael told me he saw the Beatles downtown in 1964. This novel takes place in four different Seattles, all related to that event. A tenement house with a mysterious stranger—Mike drives to the ocean with his cat—a father looks for tickets for his daughter—a girl carries a breadloaf and rides a horse under the monorail—The Belateds play on top of the house.

2024 #3

JONES JR. This is how a novel would appear as a TV show in the 1970s. A bicycling detective. Shoe shining. Another world called Avalon you can’t resist. A seedy apartment. A mummy escapes from the museum. Flying over the Pacific Ocean beach in a garbage can.

2024 #4

FLOP. A novel about how not to care for a seal. Featuring an artist who lives on a rooftop with pterodactyls. Amelia Earhart makes a cameo appearance. Or does she? Bees have taken over the gallery’s second floor. A gameshow and a gangster. A whale for a taxicab.

FLOP

Here's the cover spread (back, spine, front) for next book, FLOP. Rob Millis helped me with this, and came up with the great idea of the title tripping on spine.

Swans going south. Funny, I was just outside and 13 of them went overhead low but I didn't have my camera! Just like seeing Nessie.

Meanwhile in California, another sunny day begins. I wonder if Vincent Price ever delivered newspapers to that Tudor style house on the right, pausing on his bicycle.
