walking on TV

This installation in the university art building
is 4 TVs on an endless loop of a guy walking
through the leaves. It features in the novel I've
just completed, though I changed the man to
a gorilla. Also, if you look carefully, you
might notice someone has added something...

monster time

"Trying to convince 21st century
men and women that there were
monsters in the world, and their
greatest advantage was the
unwillingness of rational people
to believe."

I almost stopped reading Stephen King's
new book it was so gruesome, but I soon
got into it and couldn't put it down.
Once again, Mr. King has his finger on
the pulse of America, the horror of a
monster that feeds on fear, pain, sorrow
and terror, a monster that became an awful
lot more familiar these past years especially.
In other words, it's another book that speaks
to what's going on and conquers it.
I also liked the reference to the Mexican
Luchadora movies and I am so glad that
Holly returned; she's a great character.

Almost Animals

Good Deed Rain's next book,
Almost Animals a short story
collection is due to be published
in July. Another beautiful painted
cover by Laura Vasyutynska.
Thank you to Katrina for design help.
New stories written this spring.
From the intro: "Sometimes I hear
an early morning bird playing a
little unusual, like Thelonious Monk
in a piano tree, and that's how I'd
like these almost animals to be."
Stay tuned.

1934 movies

Woke up this morning at 4 AM
and went downstairs and watched
a couple great W.C Fields favorites
It's a Gift and You're Telling Me
wondrous comedies to start the day.

movie time

Watched Ozu's 1936 movie The Only Son.
Some beautiful filmed scenes and dreams.

Raymond DeCapite

I reread A Lost King by Raymond DeCapite.
This is one of my favorite authors (and another
writer with books that are hard to find!). This
book is full of humor and a beautiful reflection
on a rough Cleveland world.

movie time

I watched Fallen Angel (1945).
It was so rough I had to watch
Steve Martin's The Jerk.

space children

I'm still thinking about The Space Children.
I liked the setting a lot: the trailer park
at the beach with the rocket parked
next door, behind the padlocked fence.
